Darpan has always shown a keen passion for business and was involved in his family’s business and property ventures from a very young age. His first involvement in the business world was working as a grocery packer on weekends in his family’s supermarket business in Fiji as a 10 year old.
After completing a BCom (Hons) LLB from the University of Auckland in 1998, Darpan worked for a wide range of firms and companies in several countries, gaining valuable experience across sectors such as Investment Banking, Retail, Property and Finance. He returned to NZ after his OE in 2002. In due course, given his strong background and experience in property and finance, he decided to start a property finance business together with his brother. Despite a tough start and the advent of GFC, the business eventually thrived and has become one of the largest privately-owned finance companies in New Zealand.
Darpan has almost 2 decades of property finance experience and has overseen billions of dollars in property lending through ASAP Finance. He has also undertaken many commercial and residential development projects throughout NZ.
When he is not working, Darpan loves to spend time with his family and playing with his pet dog Ziggy. He has travelled extensively and enjoys playing and watching sport. He is a huge UFC fan and a very long-suffering but passionate NZ Warriors fan. Darpan also enjoys great food, wine and music and has recently taken up golf.
